News of the incident from The Star Ledger,

“When firefighters arrived at the scene before 2 p.m., they found heavy fire in the basement of 537 Jersey Ave., according to Elizabeth Deputy Chief Daniel Campbell.

The fire moved up the rear of the three-story white brick home, and quickly spread to houses on either side, Campbell said.

Residents were home in each of the houses, but firefighters were able to easily get everyone out except for a 55-year-old woman trapped in the attic of the house in which the fire began.”
