“Expect Fire” KentlandSmoke Showing at the AFA

There’s a different smell coming from Eight O’Clock Coffee

On any given Sunday, the complacent firefighter might expect the automatic fire alarm at a local commercial occupancy and warehouse to be an alarm malfunction. Such was not the case yesterday as members of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department responded on the local for the AFA at 3300 Pennsy Drive, home of the very aromatic Eight O’Clock coffee corporation. People familiar with the area know that you can smell a fresh cup of Joe even in the area of Veterans Parkway and Route 50.

The building, located near Metro’s Landover station and 75th Avenue is a decent sized structure in that commercial area. Kentland firefighters arrived to find smoke showing and requested the box alarm be filled.

“Engine Co. 33 laid a supply line in from the Bravo side and took a position in the rear where they found a large trash compactor on fire with extension inside the building. Tower 33 laddered the structure and opened up access for the Engine crew.” More from www.kentland33.com
