Could the same be said of your department?
I received this brief note this morning from a career firefighter here in the county. I've never met this person; just that he likes what I write and knows some of my associations. It's nice and should not be confused haughtiness, but a type of standard that members should strive to attain, at every house.
"Hey Brother. I know that Hyattsville FD is where you used hang your hat and I just wanted to tell ya. I got the chance to work there again today. I usually don't like working at stations other than my own. But I don't mind going to 1's. It is refreshing to see a station that is successfully weathering the issues of The Fire Service. There seems to be no us vs. them issues, the apparatus is new, well equipped and maintained and the station is in good shape. You guys are beating the odds over there. Alot of places aren't fairing as well. I hope you guys continue to have success and keep up the good work."
Ask yourself, could members of other departments or houses say the same about your house?
