Woman killed during demolition of house neighbors wanted torn down.
UPDATE: News reports on Monday state the autopsy showed that the victim was alive at the time of the demolition and had been killed by falling debris.
This afternoon Atlanta firefighters were called the scene of a building undergoing demolition when a woman’s moans were heard.
Contractors said they walked through the southeast Atlanta home prior to the demolition. Crews were working from the front to the back of the structure when according to two accounts the victim could be heard. She died before firefighters were able to pull her from the debris. She was reported to have been in the attic. A second thorough search of the demolition debris was done by Atlanta firefighters with technical, collapse equipment. Local sources vary in the account of the woman being dead prior to the collapse or after and an investigation is underway to determine the specifics of her death.
