Brooklyn Working: Ladder 102 Veteran Rescues Baby in Bedford-Stuyvesant Fire

28-year member assigned to Ladder Company 102 pulls 4-month old from fire.





On Thursday, 23 December, Brooklyn companies responded to a working fire in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. Companies arrived to the Greene Avenue apartment to find fire on the first floor and reports of a baby still inside.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire in the rear and began making a strong push inside. Danny Insardi, a 28-year veteran assigned to Ladder Company 102 was able to force entry via the rear and then into the room (bedding that the baby was on was up against door) and rescue the 4-month old girl.
