P.G. volunteers give back to the locals who need it more.
Hyattsville members took time to contribute to the Washington, D.C. area’s Capital Area Food Bank last night. Members on Truck 1 dropped off needed items at the nearby Giant Food Store. The food bank helps share food staples to nearly 400,000 needy residents in our area, through various organizations. Possibly not as exciting as the job in Brentwood earlier this week, but equally as important.
“The community is part of us, we’re part of them.”
Firefighter Chris Mitchell
Departments should try to make the most of every effort to help the communities they serve. It’s not a haughty effort, but one that reinforces a positive public perception among your “customers”. If the only time they see you is when something is on fire, or when one of you is in trouble, their view of you will always be narrow.
