…the Squad was on the box alarm for this fire in Greenwich Village this week. Fire in the Village Paper Party Store was fought with a two alarm assignment. A ceiling collapse injured two firefighters who were taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
A raging fire tore through a West Village paper store early Wednesday, gutting the business and injuring a pair of firefighters forced to battle snow as well as flames.

Great article Dave. I agree with your comment that "they became traditions because they work." And yes if you change the focus from life safety to your own safety how about holding a town meeting and letting those you swore to protect know whats going on, I am sure they will see your point!
